BES Assists City of Boulder with Fire Support

In the early morning hours in Nov. 2021, the City of Boulder and several other fire departments responded to a working structure fire at a large 80-unit apartment complex in the center of the city.

BES members responded to provide breathable air refill from their mobile air cascade unit — a specialized support service that enables firefighters to continue operations without returning to base to refill their SCBA cylinders. This type of support allows fire departments to maintain continuous suppression operations on large, extended incidents.

BES worked through the night alongside Boulder Fire-Rescue and mutual aid agencies, providing sustained air support until the fire was brought under control.
